You never give me any support, not for anything, and certainly not in the past few years when I’ve needed it the most – It’s something that I love, something that I want to do, and while it might impact my studies, I’m prepared to sacrifice time for it? It’s frustrating, there’s so much bias, she can and I can’t, and with just a few sentences you can just tear down my hopes and dreams, every single time.

Think I got obsessed by Miley today…

Just kidding, just kidding. I think I got obsessed by a ‘typical’ 16 year old white girl…
Okay really, just kidding. Mucking around with makeup today when I went out to lunch, came home, tied up my hair in a high pony, liked it, starting taking selfies. Today was my last holiday class for maths tutoring, and is it weird that only on the last lesson, when we didn’t get any homework, I find myself wanting do to maths? Curse you, brain… Then again, I have plenty more I want to revise before starting school again (eek, there’s only a week left!)

I find myself liking this look more and more, as I’ve actually never had much to play around with in terms of eyeshadow. I’ve never really attempted at doing my own, and then stepping out of the house, so I’m super pleased with how this kind of casual look turned out! Looking forward for my sister to come back from Canada so she can bring back all the makeup goodies I plan on asking her to buy for me.

Thanks for reading!

I think I’m going to try keep my ‘rant’ posts two sentences only, instead of having it take up (potentially) a whole page. I think this will be good, because not only will I save myself some embarrassment of when I look back at my previous posts, but then if I can condense my frustration into just two sentences, then clearly it wasn’t much to be upset about in the first place, right? Or so I like to think, anyway. So from now on I think I’ll do that. Benefits everyone and everything, really. Saves time I use to post,  the amount of cringe for later, all kinds of things.

That’s all for now! Meeting with a friend for lunch.
Thanks for reading!

I use brackets a lot.

Hello again! It’s been well over six months since my last post, and I’ve decided to dig up this old (if you can even call this old) blog and use it to document my ‘journey’ as I go into the last two years of senior schooling before I face the HSC. I think keeping a blog is a very good idea, as it gives you a private (although then again, this is the internet) place to organise your thoughts. I’ve always loved twitter for that, but it’s quickly becoming overcrowded with people from school, and with a 140 character limit, I feel anything I post that seems malicious to anyone will circulate back around in the gossip/rumor mill – I know this is true because admittedly, I contribute to that myself.

But ignoring all that, and going back to the point of this post, I do want a place to just kind of word vomit (in the most civil way I can manage) and also to keep a track on myself. If anyone finds my blog interesting, that’s great! I am more than happy to bring amusement to others if they find me funny or the like, while being my ‘true’ self which I find very hard to do as I very rarely open up to people (something I can definitely see myself posting about in the future). But while making the decision to reuse this blog, I’ve decided that it won’t be used for the purpose to get heaps of viewers, followers, then start posting videos and then end up really big on YouTube and go crazy with my 15 minutes of fame (although I am definitely, definitely not targeting anyone here!!), but rather to post for myself. As I said, however, any readers are highly welcome! They’re also more than welcome to tell me to sit down if I end up going too crazy and obsessed with blogging for anyone other than myself.

Hopefully, I will use this blog as motivation to finish off the things that I aim to do and write about. One such thing is getting back into writing and polishing up my rusty, almost non existent skills, which will hopefully be handy for English this year. Although it’s slightly embarrassing to admit, I think I’ll be going back to my roots and writing fanfiction – not because I’m some crazed fan girl who loves seeing too completely unrealistic people together in a relationship (although perhaps that’s partly the reason and I’m just not admitting it to myself), I also think that it’s.. almost easier to write fanfiction compared to writing a story from scratch. Simply because the characterisation is already there, and complete for you, along with things such as setting, backstory, etc. Unless, of course, you write AU in the case of fantasy (which is all I ever read, really) but the character development is still there and finished for you to build upon. Which is why I think I’ll be attempting to get back into writing by writing about one of my most favourite things in the world! A wonderful game that’s been there since I can remember – or really, since it’s release in 2002, Kingdom Hearts. Hopefully posting my goal out onto the internet will give me motivation to start soon, as the story is still in its early stages. I do want to start writing before I get back to school on the 30th however, as I know I’ll probably get too busy to start something new once the school year commences.

Phew! Its been a very long time since I’ve typed something so formal. If you follow my twitter (@daphshen, shameless self promotion right here!) I’m generally quite crude a person, and love to swear more often in a sentence, especially when angry, than not. I think that’s really it for now, I’ve almost written up a good page about my little life and the troubles I have at the age of 15. I think most of my posts won’t be as structured as this in the future, although I do love ranting about myself as if I’m so important. I kind of plan (although we’ll just have to see how it turns out, really) for my blog to be a mainly on the go kind of thing, posting from my mobile and iPad quick little bursts of text and photos (although photos from my phone are so horrible when it comes to quality, and god knows I’m a perfectionist and OCD about these things) compared to sitting down at my laptop (although I admit, I do this for many hours every day anyway…) and typing out a post, having to worry about structure etc when all I do is just let it all out. But we’ll see! Hopefully I won’t post twice and then not post for another six months as well…

Anyway, it’s pretty much 1:30, and I have to get up at 11am at the latest tomorrow to make it out for lunch with a friend then my last lesson of tutor (Kurt Mathematics, if anyone is interested) for the holidays! Super keen. And while 9.5 hours of sleep is plenty during the school term for me and probably all year round for anyone else, I really don’t think I can function unless I get 11-12 hours… sometimes I think I would be better off if I was born as a sloth or something. Regardless! I think there’s also a mosquito in my room, as I’m finding a bunch of bites on my arms and legs as I’m typing this. So I think I’ll take this as my cue to leave it at this for today. Thank you all for taking your time to read this, if anyone is!

I’ll leave you all with makeup looks I’ve been digging recently – one because I recently bought my first red lipstick for $8.48 at a 50% off sale at Chemist Warehouse – it’s called Fatal Red, one of Maybelline’s Colour Sensational lipsticks. Expensive, I know – curse you Australia! And the second photo is from tonight, just me mucking around with some eye shadows and a photo taken in very horrible lighting and capturing a very horrible face. All the icecream, chips and chilli noodles I’ve eaten in the holidays really shows in the skin, huh. (Also lack of foundation and appropriate filter to make skin look unnaturally flawless.)

Thanks again for taking your time to read this! I appreciate you, and you are beautiful. ♡
Until next time!

cre8tiv haul!

So here’s some of the iteems that I bought yesterday from K-Mart, from the brand ‘cre8tiv’. I tried to find links on the K-Mart online stall, but they didn’t have it for some reason! Ifyou want these items, then it’s worth just popping down to your nearest K-Mart, or maybe even eBay. Putting that aside though, lets get on with the haul:

So one of the main things I bought was the scrapbooking kit, which was $16. There were three main designs: this black and white one, a pinky themed feminine/floral/vintage kind of one, and then a bright happy birthday one, using lots of color block (great for kids?).

Also bought some extra paper which kind of fit in with the B&W theme of the main kit, although when I went K-Mart was out of the sleeves to refill the actual scrapbook. I’ll definitely need to buy those soon, although I probably won’t need it for a while. These sheets were $6.image

This also included some paper and some really cute stickers, for $6. Pretty excited to use the stickers, as they’re so adorable!image

I thought this was a really cute idea – basically, you print out photos and snap them into the frame, making it look like a polaroid. So cute, and 10 of them for $3! Probably going to use plenty of these in the future.

Thought these would come in handy, whether it be for photos or just sticking anything up in general, not just scrapbooking items. Only for $3!

And the last from the cre8tiv haul was these cards and envelopes. It was either these string envelopes, or just plain envelopes without the string piece – so why not get it with string to make it look fancier? I thought I could just stick these in the scrapbook and use them to store things like receipts.
K-Mart/cre8tiv had so many embellishments for scrapbooking, and most of them were $3. I had to cut down on so many because I just couldnt decide! They had lace trim, bakers twine, some super colorful and cute bunting, plenty of stickers, etc etc. Basically the essentials to start scrapbooking! It was such a shame I couldn’t get more…

But anyway! Today I went to Daiso (a japanese equivalent of a dollar store, in Australia every single item in this massive hot dollar store is $2.80) and bought some cute origami paper and double sided tape to make my own washi tape! Washi tape is so expensive, so I thought why not make my own. One thing which I forgot to buy was tissue paper so I could draw my own designs… but that’s alright, considering that’s pretty easy to buy anyway!

Planning to hopefully make some really cute washi tape with these, and you can find a tutorial for making your own washi tape here, although I’ll be following some of the instructions from this tutorial as well. Super excited to finish all my assignments so I can start making the washi tape and scrapbooking.

Well that’s it for today! Thank you so much for reading! 🙂

Definitely digging these ideas: going to try these

So, still procrastinating, I was browsing craftgawker, one of my absolute favorite sites (along with pinterest and etsy) and came across these few ideas which I thought were so so awesome! Definitely digging these ideas:

Image from Sara’s Never-Never La-La Land, also has a great review here

SMASH is a great new way to scrapbook, from K&Company. They have a massive range of products, and all the items are so cute! This post here has a great review of products from SMASH and how she used it while travelling overseas. And of course, you can buy the SMASH products here from K&Company. Super, super cute! Item’s aren’t that expensive either, especially if you buy them from consumer crafts.

Next, this super cute but so easy to do idea from 23 Delight! Stitching paper was something I used to love doing as a kid, because you know in those days we had nothing else to play with really. I used to stitch pieces of tissue with a toothpick, and then thread string through it, although I never knotted the ends, so the thread came right out when I pulled it through. And after that happened, I would just get another piece of tissue and do it over and over again. Their whole blog is so adorable, you can check them out and the post here. Super cute!

These super cute book covers are from The Southern Institute, where they simply redid the covers of little composition books and journals. They have a super easy tutorial to follow on their site, and even the free template for the covers! Super innovative and makes any cheap book into something that looks super fancy. Check out the tutorial and their site here!

Definitely going to try these out! I’m looking into buying a few of the SMASH items, and stitching in some of the pages seems like a great idea to spice up any pages. Also I just thought the book covers were a great idea to dress up any book lying around at home, super handy!

I went shopping today, after finding out that Target’s online store had SMASH items. I was so excited to go out and buy some… and then it turns out the Target I went to didn’t have any! I was so disappointed, because the Target was massive – I could barely find any stationery, and the storespeople were incredibly unhelpful…

Luckily K-mart was on the floor below, and they had a whole section just for scrapbooking! Bought plenty of things, although sadly none of it was K&Company’s SMASH products. Going to make a haul post most likely tomorrow, including items that I still need to buy/regret not buying.

I also got a haircut today! Trimmed around 12cm off in length, so my hair sits just below my shoulders now. Feels great to have neat hair again (my hair was getting a bit too long for my liking). My hair grows super fast, I cut my hair into a really short bob last year around March and before I cut it it was already about 25cm past my shoulders. Not sure if it’s a bad or a good thing… Also cut myself some bangs to frame my face for when I tie up my hair (I have a round and pudgy face, tying up my hair makes my face look like a ball) but it doesn’t really show when my hairs out, so that’s good.

That’s it for today, I’ll have the haul post up tomorrow hopefully, although I’m back to school tomorrow and I’ll be home later than usual. Hopefully I get that post up though! Thanks so much for reading 🙂
